August Reading Plans {New on the Stack}

Linking up with Sheila's New on the Stack!

I had fun wrapping up my July reads (although it turns out I did finish one more book - a re-read of Georgette Heyer's Frederica). I think I'm going to try to do a rough planning post at the beginning of the month, and then a wrap up at the end; because it's fun to see the difference between the two book lists!

Here are the books I'm planning to read this month.

My Name is Resolute by Nancy E. Turner
Where: library hold list
Why: I've never read any Nancy Turner before, but I've heard raves about These Is My Words. And I was looking for Revolutionary War fiction.

The Shatter Me Trilogy by Taherah Mafi
Where: library hold list
Why: I'm not feeling in the mood for more YA trilogies right now actually, but I've been on hold for this one since NOVEMBER of last year. So I've gotta read it while the going is good!

The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay
Where: purchased on Audible
Why: I've read numerous rave reviews of this one (including Jill's), so I decided to give it a shot.

Shanghai Redemption by Qiu Xiaoling
Where: from Shelf Awareness for review
Why: I'm not entirely sure yet if I'm going to read this one or the one below. Depends on what I'm in the mood for next week. I read another mystery by this author a few years ago, and it was pretty good.

The Middle of Somewhere by Sonja Yoerg
Where: from Shelf Awareness for review
Why: Another review option. This is a thriller featuring hikers in the Rockies.

Other than that, I'm sure there will be another Georgette Heyer in there - I enjoyed re-reading Frederica and The Convenient Marriage so much in the last few days that I can't resist continuing. Maybe False Colours or The Talisman Ring will be up next. And then toward the end of the month I'll get another batch of Shelf Awareness books, so we'll have to see what's in that bundle!

I'm pretty sure I'm not going to read Go Set a Watchman, however. I'm just not sure if I'm ready to (potentially) tarnish my memories of To Kill a Mockingbird. Plus my copy is due back at the library on Friday, and there are like 800 holds on it after that... so I either need to hurry up and tackle it, or wait a few months.

What are YOU planning to read this month?
