Books & Snow & Whine

I normally post every Thursday. So I feel like I ought to post something fun and bookish today... but, I'm sick. Still. And I've passed the "I'm so sick I can only lie around and read" phase, reaching the "I'm sick enough that everything makes me tired but my house is filthy and a dirty clothes avalanche is imminent so I have to do something" phase. Meh.

But, then I remind myself that I hadn't been sick for about a year, so I should count my blessings that I missed the hand/foot/mouth disease that Noel and Eleanor got last spring. And really, it's just a cold and it's not the end of the world. And Eleanor and I had fun making brownies the other morning, as you can see. (Her literal quote, "MOM! I am SO EXCITING about the brownies! I looooooove brownies.")

And, yesterday it snowed in Tucson again. (We've had snow twice this month, plus a wee bit one day in December. Absolutely unprecedented, so excuse my excited snow-posting on Twitter and Facebook). One of my friends who moved away a few years ago changed his status to, "I don't think I fully realized how many friends I have in Tucson until it snowed there." Ha!

All that is to say that I haven't read much in the last few days. I've read a smidge of Wuthering Heights and listened to a little of The FitzOsbornes in Exile and 11/22/63 on audio. I'm wondering if perhaps I jinxed myself a bit with last Sunday's post, or maybe my brain just needed a break from the excessive book intake.

But tonight Eleanor is spending the night at my parents' house, and Noel and I get a date night, and I'm pretty excited. This is only the 5th night we've ever been away from her, so it's a rare treat.

Here's hoping I don't sneeze all evening.

Are you sick too?
What are you reading?
