Judging Books By Their Covers: Anne of Green Gables

You knew I couldn't pass this one up, right? Have you seen the nonsensically awful new Anne of Green Gables cover?

(A) Why is she BLONDE?!?!!
(B) Girls did not dress like that in the 1890s.
(C) Anne Shirley would NOT have worn lipstick. Ugh.

The article where I found that image calls her Anne of Sweet Valley High, ha.

I hope that you're all in agreement with me that the above cover is dreadful. Now for some other, more acceptable, covers.

I prefer the one at left or second from the right. The second from left is more sexualized than I want my Anne to be (although not as bad as the one up top) and I find the right-hand one to be too little kid-ish.

Which cover do you prefer?
