I filled you in the other day on what Eleanor and I have been reading. But I've also (thankfully) been doing some reading on my own. Because let's face it, picture books are cute, but I cannot wait until we get to chapter books and I can read lengthier stories to her! I get rather tired of the picture book repetition.
Anyway, on to what I'm reading!
Bread and Wine
by Shauna Niequist. Yup, still working on this one. I decided it wasn't actually good vacation reading after all, because some of her essays are a little intense, so I've been reading it a snippet at a time in the evenings.
A Spear of Summer Grass
by Deanna Raybourn. Ok, I haven't actually started this one yet, but I want to! I'm making myself be a good little book reviewer and catch up on writing reviews first. And I'm hoping that this departure from the Lady Julia Grey series is a good change for Raybourn - because although I loved the first few Lady Julias, I started losing interest as the series progressed.
The Weed That Strings the Hangman's Bag
by Alan Bradley. I loved the first Flavia De Luce book so much I immediately had to move on to the next. As expected, enchanting.
The House at Riverton
by Kate Morton. I purposely took a break from this audiobook, because I was obsessively listening to it as I usually do with Kate Morton. But since after this book I'm done with all of hers, I want to savor it a bit. And now I've forgotten how many discs in I was, so I've been putting off re-starting it. I'm sure once I do start it though, I'll be glued to my headphones again.
Of Poseidon
by Anna Banks. In the meantime, I started listening to Of Poseidon, because it was a free download from Sync last week. (Check out their full list here -- they have two free audiobook downloads each week all summer!) So far, fun YA lit, just as I was expecting.
