Confederate in the Attic: Dispatches from the Unfinished Civil War by Tony Horwitz
Lots of interesting Civil War history, plus tales of crazy modern rednecks. Bonus: Horwitz is really funny.
Footsteps in the Dark by Georgette Heyer
Stiff-upper-lip classy British mystery, starring a mysterious ghost in an old house. The dialogue between the adult siblings is superb.
Committed: A Skeptic Makes Peace With Marriage by Elizabeth Gilbert
A surprisingly interesting history of marriage, with autobiographical anecdotes. I think I liked this better than Eat, Pray, Love.
Death Comes to Pemberley by P.D. James
Denny died, who cares? Took Darcys too long to figure out whodunit. But, liked James' interpretation of how characters developed after PnP.
The Gabriel Hounds by Mary Stewart
Beautiful love story set in gorgeous Middle Eastern locale. Love Stewart's writing. But rather creepy that they were 2nd cousins.
Bloodhounds by Peter Lovesey
LOVED this locked-room mystery set in Bath. Diamond is a great detective, enjoyed all the references to classic authors.
The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan
A great finale to the Percy Jackson series - Percy, Annabeth, Grover & friends team up with the gods to save NYC from the Titans. So fun!
