Jane Austen, Kids' Books, the Interrobang, and other Tidbits

I'm super excited to share about the 2014 Motherhood and Jane Austen Book Club, the brain child of Nicole Bennett! Nicole has asked me to be one of the moderators for the discussions, which should be really fun. If you want to participate, please like the group on Facebook to make sure that you don't miss any details.

Anne Bogel has created an awesome guide to kids' books that make great gifts. It's called Paper Gains, and it's free to anyone who signs up for her monthly newsletter. It includes some of my favorites, like Harriet the Spy and The Day the Crayons Quit, and the Baby Lit books which I recently featured. (It also introduced me to the Cozy Classics; how had I missed these?!) Oh and speaking of Baby Lit, for all of you who wanted a more "boyish" book to be featured, the publisher told me that in March Adventures of Huckleberry Finn: A Camping Primer will be coming out!

Juliet can testify to Baby Lit's awesomeness... even if she sometimes falls asleep while reading.

I got some pretty positive feedback on Twitter about having a #bookwormproblems linky party - so I'm scheduling it. I'm thinking my birthday sounds like a good day for a party, thus Wednesday, December 18th it is! Ever cried on the bus while reading? Had a shelf collapse when you added that one last book? Write it up and be ready to share! (And if you don't have a blog, feel free to email me a snippet at quirkybookworm (at) gmail (dot) com, and I'll include it in my post).

My friend Sherri clued me in to how to make an interrobang happen on my phone! If you have an iPhone you can do it too -- see this guide. It's somehow immensely satisfying (in a very nerdy way) to be able to use such an obscure punctuation mark when texting or posting to Facebook.

And finally, are you looking for a book recommendation? From a human? Check out Go Book Yourself. All the recommendations I've looked at have been spot on.
