This early reader is adorable - starring the spunky Katie Woo, who has a whole series of books to her name. In Katie in the Kitchen, Katie's mom is taking food to a sick neighbor, but Katie can't go because she might catch the flu. Then she tries to help her dad - but he's working with tools that could be dangerous for her.
Katie filled a pot with water, three boxes of spaghetti, four cans of tomato sauce, and a jar of olives.
"I think that's enough," Katie said, "Turning on the stove is a no-no, so Mom can cook this when she comes back."
And
the adventures continue from there - eventually requiring a lot of
bandaids, and some hiding in a closet from a "ghost" (who turns out to
be Katie's mom).
