Judging Book Covers: Nancy Drew

These covers of Nancy Drew #5: The Secret of Shadow Ranch  are, from left to right, from 1973, 1980, and 1994. I own the one in the middle. And I'd have to say it's my favorite. Nancy looks much more intrepid, and the white, ghost-y horse is kind of scary.

I'm wondering though, why do you think they changed the title for the 1994 edition? Is 'at' better than 'of'??

Which cover is your favorite?

P.S. This post is part of my Judging Books by Their Covers series. Check out more of them here.

P.P.S. Fun fact about me: in second grade we got to be someone else for a day. Our teacher gave us all name tags and called us by our pretend name all day. I was Nancy.

P.P.P.S. In related news, I always told people I wanted to be a detective-ballerina when I grew up. I'm not sure if it was detective by day and ballerina by night, or vice versa.

P.P.P.P.S. Due to our imminent move, I've been sorting through bins of keepsakes. I found a whole shoebox full of elaborately folded notes that I exchanged with friends in ninth grade. This may have something to do with all the postscripting.
