Brady Needs a Nightlight is the story of a little bat who isn't like all the other bats - he's scared of the dark. He doesn't like sleeping in a dark cave all day, and he really doesn't like going outside to play at night when there are owls hooting and coyotes howling!
But then Brady meets some new friends - fireflies! The fireflies provide just enough light to keep him from getting scared, and he and the fireflies have lots of fun together.
Eleanor says, "I like this book. But why didn't he like the dark? Bats are supposed to be nocturnal! But the fireflies are my favorite part."
I say, "It's a cute little story, probably especially enjoyable for kids who are scared of the dark, and the illustrations are a lot of fun. The meter of the rhyming text was a little clunky, but Eleanor obviously didn't notice or care."
