The girls, "playing dress-up". |
Phew! I can't believe how fast the last bit of 2013 went by. The pregnant part draaaagged for me, but I could swear Halloween was last week, and I can't believe Juliet is already 11 weeks old.
As usual, talk of The New Year makes me want to change things - we did a huge rearrange of our house (flip-flopping the dining and living rooms) and I did a little blog design tweak a few days ago. Nothing major, I just switched some fonts and the sidebar and updated the "Subscribe Via" section. (Speaking of subscription... if you subscribe via email or feed reader you should click through to see the changes.) I want to change my header a bit too, I just need to ask the friend who drew it for another favor!
In the meantime, as I was poking around the blog's odd corners, I found some posts from earlier this year that I want to share with you again:
- Sometimes it's hard to know when to Quit an Author. I love all the comments on this one about which authors people have given up on.
- Also, it made me incredibly happy how many people identify with my Pathological Literacy.
- As always Love of Reading Week was a blast. (And whoa, I better get moving if I'm going to do it again this year!)
- Letting Eleanor share the news that I was pregnant was one of my favorite moments of the year for sure. I've watched that video so many times!
- Another highlight was getting to interview one of my very favorite authors! Which makes me realize how long it's been since I've read a Deborah Crombie book...
- I begged you to STOP wasting your time on bad books.
- The #bookwormproblems link-up. I love the bookwormy problems that people shared (and I suffer from so many of the same issues)!
- The 2014 Young Adult Book & Movie Club. About 15 people have joined the Facebook group - there's plenty of room for more!
- First I shared my 10 Most Memorable Books of 2013. (Mostly sad ones!)
- And then I showed Where I've Been Reading -- I'm quite proud that I read at least one book set on each continent.
All in all it was a lovely year, mostly due to Juliet's arrival, but also just a nice year of friends and family and books. And 2014 is starting out with a bang - my brother gets married on Saturday!
How was YOUR 2013?
