Stalled Books

Last fall I wrote about some books I'd stalled out on, given up on reading, for no reason that I could pin down. I just didn't want to finish them.

It's been a while since I gave up on a book, but then this month I started reading The Seventh Gate by Richard Zimler. I was really enjoying it at first, but for some reason I just stalled out after reading about 100 pages. Maybe because it was set in 1930 Berlin - just like The Auslander, and I wasn't ready for another Nazi book?

And, I checked out Robertson's Book of Firsts from the library. I enjoyed some of the random facts. [Did you know the first air-conditioner was installed in 1891 at the Ice Palace, a restaurant in St. Louis, Missouri? Or that the first airline flight attendant was a 14 year old named Jack Sanderson who started work in 1922?] But I just couldn't get into it enough to read past the As.

Oh well, I'm listening to Drop Dead Healthy on audio book, and I devoured When Maidens Mourn over the weekend, and I loved them both, so you win some, you lose some.

What books have you stalled out on recently?
Or do you always finish a book you've started?
