But - my 19 books include two that were more than 850 pages (Anna Karenina and 11/22/63); thus my average should go up a bit once I start reading more normal length books.
So maybe I'll stop calculating how much I'm not reading, and just start reading more instead.
Here's what I'm currently reading:
Wuthering Heights. I still haven't finished it for the January-February part of the Classics Catch-Up Challenge. And I gotta be honest, I think I'm totally going to bail. My main goal this year was reading the six books in the challenge that I haven't read before, the seven re-reads are less important to me. Plus I have some Shelf Awareness reviews due soon, and a couple of TLC book tours coming up, and I'm just thinking I don't have time to waste on a book I'm not enjoying.
A Conspiracy of Alchemists. This is for one of those book tours. So far it's fun, but a bit much. It's a steampunk fantasy thriller, which involves dirigibles and absinthe fairies and alchemists and spark reactor powered cars... all set in 1903. I'm only about 1/4 of the way into it, and the plot is pretty thin; but the distractingly creative setting keeps me a-turning the pages.
Serving Victoria. I just started this one for Shelf Awareness, and I'm intrigued. It's the story of Queen Victoria's reign, as seen through the eyes of her servants. I recently listened to a couple of podcasts by the History Chicks about Victoria, so the history is fresh in my head, and it's fun to see the events from the other end.
Code Name Verity. I haven't actually started this one yet, but I'm determined to squeeze it in. I was on the library hold list for about 3 months for it, and I've got 9 days left to hurry up and read it before it's due. Wanting to read this book is also a pretty big contributing factor to bailing on Wuthering Heights...
